Put A Handle On Door

Use the template provided in the door handle kit to mark where you will be drilling.
Put a handle on door. Although you could follow the directions that come with your handle instructions the most common placement for a door handle is 41 inches 100 cm. Remember that some knobs and handles screw on. The second best position is to locate the pull or knob near to the hinge edge of the leading door. Slide the outer knob or handle onto the handle mechanism s cylinder on the outside of the door and press it until it snaps into place.
In this position opening the door is very easy but closing may be a little more difficult on older worn doors. It should not touch the mechanism of the inside latch. Step 2 remove latch mechanism. Remove the two screws from the latch plate on the edge of the door and remove the latch from the opening.
Place the new handle onto the outside of the door. This allows you to pull the door knobs off the door from both sides. Take out two screws setting in the door edge and slide latch mechanism out. Mark on the template where you will drill holes in the side and front of the door.
Hold the handle or handles up to where you want it located. In some cases door latch plate mortises might need to be cut or enlarged. Repeat this process to mark where you will drill on the other side of the door. Use a pencil to mark where the screw holes should be placed on the garage door.
Press the new knobs or handles into place. Do the same for the inner knob or handle. If this section is seven inches or wider you will use two handles. Measure 41 inches 100 cm from the floor.
Step 1 start replacing door handle assembly. Align the strike plate for the handle against the door jamb and attach with two small screws. Locate the flat vertical panel down the center of your garage door. If smaller than seven inches use just one.
First take out the old door handle assembly by unscrewing the two screws that secure the assembly. Turn each screw several times apiece alternating to stop one screw from binding by being removed further than the other one. However replacing the hardware or even lubrication of the track can often solve problems with this door pull location. Begin by removing the screws from the door knob on the interior side of your door.
Make sure the bent lip of the strike plate is facing the direction in which the door opens. Assemble the spindle and spring then insert them through the outside of the door as shown in the assembly view fig. Line the template up with the mark you ve made for the height of the door handle.
